Prometheus remote write config in ARO cluster

Can Prometheus Custom Resource be configured to do remote write to an APM service? The config is simple, but Microsoft documentation is explicitly denying any modifications to Prometheus service in an ARO cluster. Full visibility of cluster performance is critical to all organizations operating business critical workloads, and now it seems based on Microsof’ts documentation that Promtheus in ARO can’t be integrated with modern APM tools.

    Hello @Tuomo Hokkanen

That's correct! According to the Microsoft documentation, it is not possible to modify the Prometheus service in an Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) cluster. This means that you cannot configure the Prometheus Custom Resource to do remote write to an APM service.

However, you can still use other methods to monitor the performance of your ARO cluster. For example, you can use the built-in monitoring and logging features of ARO, such as the Cluster Monitoring Operator and the Cluster Logging Operator. You can also use other third-party monitoring and logging tools that are compatible with ARO.

It is important to note that the support policies for ARO are subject to change, and you should always refer to the latest Microsoft documentation for the most up-to-date information.

You can find more information on the support policies for ARO in the Microsoft documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/openshift/support-policies-v4
