How do I block Track Changes Cards Inserted in Word 2016?

Sometime in the last six to eight weeks, Microsoft messed with my copy of Word 2016, apparently through an "update," and I am told by people far techy-er than I that these changes are known as Track Changes Cards. They are preventing me from seeing who entered a tracked change, when, and at what time. They also are preventing me from reading an endnote or footnote when I place my cursor on the superscript in running text. These may not be valuable features for most users, but I am a professional editor and I use them all the time. I don't appreciate Microsoft's making such changes unbidden, and I want them gone! Please tell me how to purge them.

    Hi @Polly Kummel,

I'm afraid there is currently no interface for users to disable the track change cards. You can share your idea about this feature via this portal: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/fb6d67e3-301c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472 or upvote similar feedback like this: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/2e04ac16-e9f0-ed11-a81c-000d3a7a48db. Product team would take your feedback into consideration and make improvements in the feature.

The Track Changes cards have been introduced in the subscription version of Word; you shouldn't see this functionality in Word 2016 (because perpetual licenses normally do not receive feature updates). I recommend that you post feedback to Microsoft; go to https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/fb6d67e3-301c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472 .
