Hi all,

Users in my company have been asked to accept the below agreement by another company, in order to view content in their SharePoint system.

Does accepting this expose sensitive data from our Microsoft Accounts to the other company?

    Hi @stevodevo,

Thank you for posting in this community.

This invitation link is to give you access as a guest to the SharePoint site of the person who sent the invitation.

Your e-mail address is required because SharePoint needs this information to identify you as having access to the SharePoint site. E-mail address is necessary and will definitely be needed.

For reference, I have listed the basic information of the guests in my test environment, and you can see that e-mail address will be needed. (The username will be determined by the inviter.)

Other information about you, such as your job title, age or birthday, you can ask the person sending the link if they will synchronize this information with your user profile. It is up to them to decide whether or not to collect this information. This information is not collected in the invitation link and needs to be filled in manually by the inviter after asking for your information.

There is also the question of whether you can view, edit, and download the content of the inviter's site or whether you can upload some of your files to his site depending on the level of permissions you have been assigned. You can check with your inviter to determine your permission level.

One of the items in the picture is to collect and log your activity. This is a feature of SharePoint that records what you view, edit, modify, and create on the site (if you have the appropriate permissions).

The last item uses your user profile data and activity data. This is also aimed at SharePoint site administrators who will use the activity information collected above to generate reports to better manage their sites.
