Microsoft teams app database connection

Question

I am creating a Microsoft Teams messaging extension using Node.js.
I have created the app with the Yeoman Generator.

I would like to take from a database and show the results in the search based message extension.
I would like to use Azure database if possible, or if you have an easier solution, I would be open to it.

Is there a way to connect to a database and show the result in the search based message extension?
