File and print sharing enabled but computer cannot be discovered

Question

windows 11 network discovery turned on but still cannot be seen by other computers on the network. When i go to the network view in Explorer the warning bar comes up with Network Discovery and File Sharing are turned off, Network devices are not visible. CLick to change. i click which then takes me to the Advanced sharing. i am on a private network and the setting are correct but the error bar still appears and the computer cannot be discovered. Windows 11 enterprise

Hello, Thank you for posting in Q&A forum. Please kindly follow below steps to do the troubleshooting: 1.Open "Settings" > "Network & Internet." Click on network connection "Properties" and see if it's "Private." 2.Open "Services" application (services.msc) and check if below Network Discovery Services are running: Function Discovery Provider Host (FDPHost) Function Discovery Resource Publication (FDResPub) Check if service status is "Automatic" and are running. 3. I had the same problem with one of my Win 10 Pro x64 PC's; tried all the suggestions from here & elseware but the problem remained ie I could ping the PC in question using its ip address via CMD prompt & using its ip address via the browser but couldn't discover it in 'Network' in Windows explorer.

I finally renamed the PC from IP-Cam to IP-Cameras & problem solved!!

I had the problem, which disappeared after I turned Network Discovery OFF and back ON again.
However that was not a definitive solution. The problem is back (perhaps after a Windows 11 update?) and I haven't yet found any cure.
