    Hello,

The file ntoskrnl.exe is a part of the Windows operating system and is responsible for various system services such as hardware virtualization, process and memory management. If it’s using high CPU resources, here’s how you can troubleshoot:

    1. Run Windows Update

Before you perform any other actions, make sure your system is up-to-date. Windows Update not only brings new features but also fixes many known issues.

    1. Check for Driver Issues

Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can cause high CPU usage. You can update your drivers manually by visiting the manufacturer’s website, or use a driver update tool.

3.Perform a clean boot to disable third party service to avoid the effect and temporarily turn off the third-party security software.

    4.Disable Windows Search Service Module.

Type "services.msc" in Search bar, open service window, scroll down to find Windows Search in the listed services. Select the service and right-click on it to find the option that says Stop.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian

Yes, I restored the computer to factory settings and then upgraded to Windows 11. The problem was solved. It took a day. I hope one day there will be a button to stop Windows from automatically updating. Your method looks like it should work. thank you very much.
