Why is traceroute not working on the newly created VMs?

There is a warning in the instructions that traceroute may take a "few minutes" to fully install on the Linux VMs (via config file). I've waited over 10 minutes and the script still returns "command not found" :-(

firstly, run the command below to update repositories if prompted to press y/n press y:

sudo apt-get update

afterwards run this command to update existing software, if prompted to press y/n press y:

sudo apt-get upgrade

Then install traceroute with the command below, once again, if prompted to press y/n, press y:

sudo apt-get install inetutils-traceroute

You were able to get the information in IPV6 limitations from : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/ip-services/ipv6-overview#limitations

Based on your query, it appears that you are encountering an issue while progressing through your training on the Microsoft Learn path outlined below:

Subject: AZ-104

Learning Path: AZ-104: Configure and manage virtual networks for Azure administrators.

Module: Manage and control traffic flow in your Azure deployment with routes

Unit 6 of 7: Exercise - Route traffic through the NVA

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

We have tried from our end and checked that traceroute is working on the newly created virtual machines successfully. Please follow the troubleshoot steps to resolve the issue.

To create public and private virtual machines specify unique passwords for both virtual machines as shown in the screenshot below:

We could be able to deploy both public and private virtual machines running successfully as shown in the screenshot below.

3.Here we can test traffic routing through the network virtual appliance from public to private and private to public virtual machines. Please find the screenshot below for your reference:

NOTE: As mentioned by you it will take some time as per the required installation and internet connections.
