How do I set up a new user on a brand new Windows 11 Pro PC for file sharing on my private network? I have never set up a Microsoft account, and I don't see how to connect to my private network for file sharing or mapping network drives.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

To set up new users for private network file sharing on a brand new Windows 11 Pro PC, we recommend that you try following these steps:

    Create a local user account:

On Windows 11, click the Start button on the taskbar, and then select Settings. In the "Settings" window, select "Account". In the left menu, select "Home and Other Users". In the right pane, select "Add Account". Select "Add Local Account" and follow the prompts to fill in the new user's username and password.

    Set file sharing permissions:

Ensure that your private network is active and connected to a Windows 11 PC. In File Explorer, select the folder or drive you want to share. Right click on the selected folder or drive and select "Properties". In the "Sharing" tab, click "Advanced Sharing". In the "Advanced Sharing" window, check the "Share this folder" checkbox and set sharing and access permissions as needed.

    Map network drive (optional):

Open File Explorer and select "Connect to Network Drive" from the menu bar. In the "Connect to Network Drive" dialog box, select the drive letter to be mapped and the path to the shared folder. Select "Connect to use another account" as needed and enter the credentials for the local user account you just created. Click "Finish" to complete the mapping.

Through these steps, you should be able to set up new users on a brand new Windows 11 Pro PC and share files and map network drives on a private network.

Hope this answer can help you well.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou
