Azure Lab Account hangs during all operations

We've been using Azure Lab Accounts successfully for a while, but today something broke the whole Lab Account. After publishing a new VM template and restarting the VMs, all processes hang, meaning: The VMs never finish starting (and can't be shut off), I can't export the VM template to Gallery (error after timeout), I can't delete the Lab (hangs indefinitely), and I can't create a new Lab (timeout on the web UI). I'd like to contact support, but MS now wants an extra support subscription for that, while the meter on those inoperable VMs is still running. Any ideas?

    There was some intermittent issue with the service as mentioned in this thread.
