Hi

We are using Dell server virtual machines in VMware. I restarted the Dell server and then all our virtual machines started one by one, but unfortunately, our WSUS server is showing no internet. It shows in the domain but the internet is not working.

I tried to reset the LAN adapter by disabling/enabling it, restarted the machine twice, and troubleshooted by clicking on “Troubleshoot problems” but with no success. After troubleshooting, it shows

“The default gateway is not available”.

I checked the DNS server, virtual machine entry is there. I cannot ping this server.

I removed the ethernet cable from the Dell server and plugged it in again, now it shows the internet, but when I open any website, it does not open. After some time again it shows NO INTERNET.

When I open Windows Server Update Services, It does not synchronize and shows last synchronization result: failed.

I can access shared folders from here.

I cannot take remote access to this VM from other machines.

I can ping other machines from this server machine.

I can take remote access to other machines from this machine by both machine name and IP.

From this VM, I can ping other machines but when I try to ping the default gateway, it shows

request timed out

Destination host unreachable

Any solution plz.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

To further troubleshoot this issue, please kindly follow below steps:

    On VMware level

Check if the VMware configuration is working fine, if the adatper is configured well.

    On OS level

    1.Please kindly run CMD command

    ipconfig /all

to check current ip assignment and default gateway

2.Try to ping default gateway and record the output message.

3.Check if you are able to connect to the external internet from WSUS server.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou
