Hi all, I need to do a troubleshooting and need to understand something...

First.... Where can I start?

I try to do a fresh install of client, cleaning all registry keys, certificates, .ini etc...

I ty to specify the smsmp but suddenly gets another site code:

User's image

I have 2 subnet boundaries defined exactly the same in those two environments.

For example:

site XXX Have 192.167.34.0 Subnet without network mask

site XXX Have 192.167.34.12 Subnet without network mask

site YYY Have 192.167.34.0 Subnet without network mask

site YYY Have 192.167.34.128 Subnet without network mask

I'm not sure if these configurations are correctly.

Regards and TIA!

    Hi Sergi,

When a client receives a different site code than expected, it can lead to issues with configuration and behavior. The site code determines which Configuration Manager site the client belongs to.
    First, try check this initial ones;

    • Boundary Groups: Ensure that the client’s IP address falls within the correct boundary group associated with the desired site.
    • Subnet Boundaries: Review the subnet boundaries defined in your environment.
      • In your example, both site XXX and site YYY have the same 192.167.34.0 subnet. This overlap could cause conflicts.
      • Make sure each subnet boundary is unique and doesn’t overlap with others.
    • Boundary Group Relationships: Check if the boundary groups are correctly associated with the appropriate site systems (Distribution Points, Management Points, etc.).

Additionally. on the client machine, review the Configuration Manager logs (e.g., LocationServices.log, ClientIDManagerStartup.log, etc.).

    Hi, @Sergi Díaz Ruiz

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

It is possible that the client is getting assigned to the wrong site due to a misconfiguration of the subnet boundaries.

It's always recommended to use IP range instead of IP subnet, check this article for the details:
