Control what apps is shown in Teams mobile

In Mobile version of Teams, in the footer of the Teams app window, we have shortcuts to different sections of Teams app or different apps inside Teams app, for example, Teams, Conversations, Activity, Viva etc.

How do I control, whichs shortcuts/apps is shown for which user in Teams Mobile?

For example, if I want certain users to see only Activity, Teams and Conversation in Teams Mobile app, how can I achieve this?

According to your case description, we recommend that you contact your organization administrator and log in to the Teams Admin Center. Manage your organization's apps on the Manage Apps page of the Teams Admin Center portal, view all Teams apps available to your organization, and use policies to define access to apps.

Administrators can control which apps users in your organization can use by allowing and blocking apps, or they can customize app permission policies to control which apps are available to Teams users in your organization.

We have a global setup policy in-place, which is the default policy.

It has settings, that is exactly the same, as in your screen shot, except for OneDrive, but problem is that it does not have effect to Teams Mobile app.

In Teams Mobile app, we have, for example Viva Connections as first shortcut, but we do not use Viva. Having Viva in the shortcuts, just confuse users.

According to our official documentation, some Teams features, such as Activity Feed, Teams, Chat, Calendar, Calls, Files, and Assignments (Education tenants), are available by default and pinned by default for easy access by users.

As an administrator, you can modify this default behavior using the settings policy. To modify the pinned apps for everyone in your organization, please edit the existing Global (Org-wide default) policy. To modify the pinned apps for specific users, create a new app setup policy and assign it to the specific users.

Sign in to Teams admin center and access Teams apps > Setup policies.

Select Add.

Provide a name and description for the policy.

Optionally, turn on User pinning to allow users to pin apps and change the order of the pinned apps.

Under Pinned apps, select Add apps.

In the Add pinned apps pane, search for the apps you want to add, and then select Add. Apps get added only to the scopes that the apps support.

Arrange the apps in the order that you want the apps to appear in Teams client. You can change the sequence independently under App bar, Messaging extensions, and Meeting extensions. You can remove apps from a scope, for example, if you don't want users to pin OneDrive and Viva Goals, select these two and choose "remove".

Select Save.

We have Setup Policy inplace, which is the "Global (Org-wide default)" policy.

In that policy, we have Pinned Apps.

Problem is that Teams Mobile app do not respect this policy.

Why this could be?

According to our official documentation, there are some notes and limitations:

There's no limit on the maximum number of pinned apps that you can add to a policy. However, at least two apps must be pinned to the Teams mobile client (iOS and Android). If a policy has fewer than two apps, the mobile client doesn't reflect the policy settings. Instead, the mobile client continues to use the existing configuration.

After you edit or assign a policy, it can take a few hours for changes to take effect. Also, the rollback takes a few hours to take effect if you choose to roll back the policy application.
