Hi,

I am living/working remotely from the Philippines, and my employer is in Australia. I want to know how we can use MS Teams in making phone calls from the Philippines to Australia, New Zealand, and China and vice versa. Is that possible? Can a phone number be assigned to my MS Teams?

Yes, you can use Microsoft Teams to make phone calls from the Philippines to Australia, New Zealand, and China, and vice versa. Microsoft Teams offers a feature called "Calling Plans" or "Direct Routing" that allows you to make and receive phone calls using Teams.

    Calling Plans:

    • Microsoft Calling Plans: These are available in certain countries and regions, including Australia and New Zealand. You can purchase phone numbers directly from Microsoft and assign them to users in Teams. This allows you to make calls to local and international numbers directly from Teams.

    Direct Routing:

    • Direct Routing: This option allows you to connect your own telephony infrastructure (such as a SIP trunk) to Teams, enabling you to make calls using your existing phone numbers and infrastructure. This is useful if you already have a telephony provider or want more flexibility in how you manage your phone system.

    Assigning a Phone Number:

    • Assigning a Phone Number: If your organization has Microsoft Calling Plans available for your region (including Australia and New Zealand), your IT administrator can assign a phone number to your Teams account. This number can then be used to make and receive calls via Teams.

    International Calling:

    • International Calling: With Teams Calling Plans, you can make international calls to countries like Australia, New Zealand, and China. Rates may vary depending on the country you are calling.

    To get started:

    1. Check with Your IT Admin: Confirm if Microsoft Calling Plans are available for your region and if your organization has subscribed to them.
    2. Assign a Phone Number: Your IT admin can assign a phone number to your Teams account, allowing you to make and receive calls.
    3. Explore Calling Options: Once set up, you can use the calling features in Teams to dial international numbers as needed.

For specific details and setup instructions tailored to your organization's setup, it's best to reach out to your IT department or administrator who manages your Teams environment. They can provide guidance on how to best utilize Teams for making international phone calls.Yes, you can use Microsoft Teams to make phone calls from the Philippines to Australia, New Zealand, and China, and vice versa.
