Outlook 2016 User presence status unknown issues in Outlook with new teams

You see any of the following issues when you check the presence status for a user in Outlook:

  • The presence indicator is not visible.
  • The displayed presence is incorrect.
  • The presence status is Status unknown.

When we use outlook 2016 MSI version with New teams we are getting above issue.
We have multiple users with 2016 when they upgraded to new teams all of them getting this issue.

We switch one user with apps for enterprise and issue fixed. However we cannot do it for all users

    Welcome to our forum!

    Based on my test, i found that the status of the users is not shown in Outlook 2016/2019/2021 when i use New teams. Please kindly understand that many functions are not designed at present. To get this feature more quickly, I have found a post in feedback collection website and you could vote for it. Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. You can also make suggestions on that website and hope Microsoft will notice this in the future.

    We have multiple user using MSI version and its not possible to switch to office 365 right now. We need some resolution or better work around before moving to new teams. I do not know why this is not address yet , this is issue since last 6 months, we did not move to new teams because of only this reason but now its forced to new teams.
