D-Series converted to NV-series and installed NvidiaGpuDriverWindows Extension; provisioning failed

I have a D8s_v3 Windows Server 2022 that was changed to a NV8as_v4 with an in-place resizing. I then installed the NvidiaGpuDriverWindows Extension and the machine rebooted.

However, the extension status shows "Provisioning failed" and my VM is constantly rebooting now. Anyone know how to fix the installation of this?

Can you review the logs?

View output logs for the NVIDIA GPU Driver Extension deployment under C:\WindowsAzure\Logs\Plugins\Microsoft.HpcCompute.NvidiaGpuDriverWindows\.

Have you tried to remove it and reinstall?

There might be cases in which a VM extension needs to be rerun. You can rerun an extension by removing it, and then rerunning the extension with an execution method of your choice.

Azure CLI

To remove an extension, use az vm extension delete as follows:

Azure CLICopy

az vm extension delete

You can also remove an extension in the Azure portal:

Select a VM.

Select Extensions.

Select the extension.

Select Uninstall. There might be cases in which a VM extension needs to be rerun. You can rerun an extension by removing it, and then rerunning the extension with an execution method of your choice.
