Hi,

The code I'm using is from the doc I shared (Getting Started Guide - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/synapse-analytics/get-started) - step 2 - 6 will have the respective code to analyze the sample data set linked.

The code only works for 2022 datasets and won't work for the latest datasets (i.e. 2023, 2024).

I had followed the same steps mentioned in the document and able to query without any issue.

Step1: Download the NYC Taxi - green trip dataset to your computer. Navigate to the original dataset location from the link, choose a specific year and download the Green taxi trip records in Parquet format.

Note: Rename the downloaded file to NYCTripSmall.parquet.

Step2: In Synapse Studio, navigate to the Data Hub. Select Linked. Under the category Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2,** you'll see an item with a name like myworkspace ( Primary - YourADLSGen2Account Name ). Select the container named users (Primary). Select Upload and select the NYCTripSmall.parquet file you downloaded.

Step3: Select the upload file and right click and select New SQL script. Select TOP 100 rows and execute the query.

We had successfully able to query with latest 2024 dataset and it's working with any issue as shown above.

Hi,

Thanks for the effort for explaining the steps.

But I have mentioned the examples in the documentation is not working. We can query the parquet file as shown by you directly.

But consider this example, try to run the query for the same dataset you have shown. It will throw error.

Also run the same example for any 2022 dataset, it won't throw any error.
