Using Xamarin.Google.UserMessagingPlatform with MAUI for presenting a GDPR consent message

I am trying to present a GDPR consent message in a MAUI app using the Xamarin.Google.UserMessagingPlatform NuGet package.

I'm targeting Android 34 on .NET 8.

I have used both this: https://stackoverflow.com/a/71299843/7360423 and this: https://stackoverflow.com/a/69398471/7360423 suggested implementations, but nothing shows up. I get no errors, but also I don't get the expected consent message.

Has anyone succeeded presenting the GDPR consent message with MAUI? Is a different approach needed?

According to the relevant information of Xamarin.Google.UserMessagingPlatform, this package is compatible with .net 8.0.

Have you tried to implement it in Xamarin? If Xamarin can do it but MAUI can't, it is recommended that you report the problem to the official repository of this package to make the development team aware of it.

I just created 2 fresh projects for testing purposes, 1 with MAUI and 1 with Xamarin.

Because I'm targeting Android 34 in both, I had to make these changes in the code:

Activity has changed to Microsoft.Maui.ApplicationModel.Platform.CurrentActivity for MAUI and to Xamarin.Essentials.Platform.CurrentActivity for Xamarin.Forms.

Wherever Context was used in the original code I have substituted with Android.App.Application.Context in both MAUI and Xamrin.Forms.

If those 2 changes I have made are fine, then I maybe there is an issue with the specific API level of Android?

Hello,

Activity has changed to Microsoft.Maui.ApplicationModel.Platform.CurrentActivity for MAUI and to Xamarin.Essentials.Platform.CurrentActivity for Xamarin.Forms.

Actually, if you are using this method in MainActivity, you don't need to call the global Context and Activity. You could use this keyword instead of these two classes for testing.

Based on the information you provided, the second answer in the first link has already demonstrated this.

I replaced both Activity and Context with this.
Of course nothing changed.
Maybe this has something to do with the targeted version of Android? I tried to change the targeted version, but the drop-down menu of Visual Studio has only 34 available. I changed in the .csproj file but then I get an error:

NETSDK1181 Error getting pack version: Pack 'Microsoft.Android.Ref.32' was not present in workload manifests.

Xamarin.Google.UserMessagingPlatform is actually the Binding Library for Android's native UMP SDK.

Therefore, you'll need to refer to Android's official documentation on how to use this package. After comparing, the Manifest section is different from the previous one.

My manifest:

Of course, I have substituted the APP_ID and the AD_UNIT_ID with the ones from my AdMob account.

As for the code I'm using the 2 versions I found on StackOverflow which it seems work for others, but not for me.

I don't think I'm missing any steps.
