Remove Hardware Token on Mysignins Security Info

Dear

I Added a Hardware token to my account but from the user interface I can't remove this token.

If I logon as a Global admin on Entra then I can delete this.

Is this by design that a normal user can't delete his Hardware Token Fido2?

Even as a GA you should be able to remove the token through My security info portal. What's the error message, if any, you are getting? also, which type of key you are using?

The error I got is: "There was a problem removing the authentication method."
Type of key: yubikey 5 nfc
also as under the GA with that key I can't remove it from the security info portal.
I use then my second safety account I created to remove it on the Entra portal.

Thanks for sharing more information about your issue.

I've seen a similar scenario and the reason at the time was that the GA had proxy or email address conflicts on the environment.

Check your user's Audit Logs to see if there's more information available, otherwise I believe the best route would be to create a support request with Microsoft so we can check more information from the backend side.

I looked into the audit logs of the user and I see this Status Reason for the failure for the removal of the key.
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

We would need to take a further look at the error message from the back end, and in order to do that, a support ticket is needed. Please, go ahead and open a support ticket with Microsoft from the portal. Search for "Help & Support" and select the option "Create a Support request".You can share the case number in here for me to take a look at it.
