Why won't Outlook allow me to format calendar events?

I'm using Outlook for Mac Version 16.87.2 (24072822) on a M2 Macbook Air running Ventura 13.4 (Update: I just updated to Sanoma 14.6 and still have the same problem w/ outlook). I've tried the new outlook and legacy outlook. The new outlook strips all formatting after saving a calendar event. The legacy outlook will not allow me to format events (see image - the formatting options are greyed out). I've spent hours googling fixes and have tried everything. Please help!

    Hi @B Goodwin

    Welcome to our forum!

According to your description, i repeat the operations and do not reproduce your issue.

Does the issue occur recently on Outlook Desktop Client? Do you have any specific operation before the issue occurred?

In addition, please try the following steps:

    1. Update Outlook: Ensure that you have the latest version of Outlook installed. Sometimes, updates include fixes for known issues. You can check for updates by going to the Help menu and selecting "Check for Updates"
    2. Safe Mode: Considering the impact of some add-ins, it is suggested that please start outlook in safe mode (After closing Outlook, hold down ctrl + double-click the Outlook icon) to check whether it works normally.
    3. Create a New Profile: If this is still the issue in safe mode, considering data file corruption, it is proposed that you create a new profile, re-add your account to the new profile and check if the same issue still occurs.
    4. Uninstall and Reinstall Outlook: If all else fails, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook. This can help resolve any issues related to corrupted installation files.

    Hope it helps!
