Hello

Please i need your help on this issue

We are trying to streamline or document delivery and receipt process from our clients. Currently we store documents securely in SharePoint.

However we are using a program called Shapefile to receive the documents and then downloading them to a specific client folder within SharePoint. Is there a way to allow a client to upload their to their specific folder within SharePoint without compromising the security of the folder.

For example can we create a subfolder called upload within the clients folder because we would not want them to be touching or seeing the work product folder.

    Hi @IniobongNkanga-8038 ,

Thank you for posting in this community.

You want the client to be able to view and edit only the “upload” subfolder within the clients folder, but not any other work product folders in the clients folder.

There are two ways to achieve this:

1.Give client access rights directly on “upload” subfolder, SharePoint would give "limited access" rights to the user on parent folder, library and web however this would only allow client to access the subfolder using direct URL.

2.Client can see the clients folder, and when they click into it they can only see the “upload” subfolder, not any other work product folders in the clients folder. However, this method of operation is cumbersome, and if you have many other work product folders under the clients folder, you will need to manually break the permission inheritance for each work product folders.

    • Click the clients folder- > Manage access-> Click Advanced.
    • Grant Edit permission level for Client.
    • For all subfolders and files except for “upload” subfolder you want to restrict access for Client -> Manage access-> Click Advanced.
    • Click Stop Inheriting Permissions -> remove Edit permission for Client.
    • Result: Client can only see the “upload” subfolder in the clients folder, but nothing else.
