Laptop docking station and dual-monitor setup

For work, I use a laptop and docking station, so that I can work off of 2 monitors. If it remains plugged in and everything is set up, it works great. But once I unplug the laptop to either take into the office or to use by itself without the monitors, all of my screens get messed up. Once I plug it back into the docking station, I spend the rest of the day trying to get the programs to open on the correct monitors, resize all of my programs etc.

My question, is if there is a way to save all of the 'positional' settings, so that when I plug back into the docking station, everything will remain where it was left while plugged in?

Select Start > Settings > System > Display.

Scroll down and select Multiple displays to expand that section.

Select the boxes for Remember window locations based on monitor connection and Minimize windows when a monitor is disconnected.

Alternatively try third-party applications like: "DisplayFusion" or "Actual Multiple Monitors"
