IMAP email setup failing on authentication to provider

Question

My IMAP email account was setup on new Outlook. Last week it suddenly stopped sending or receiving emails. The only thing I can think that I did was update the time zone on the calendar.

Now it will not allow me to re-add it. I removed it when I read that was one of the steps to try to resolve the issue. I have tried multiple times. I have confirmed my password is valid with my email provider. I have tried all of the 'fixes' that I have found available to no avail.

Email stopped working several months ago when I converted to New Outlook. And then one day it miraculously started working again. I find this very frustrating.

Is there any error when you are unable to add the Gmail?

And does this issue occur with other accounts?

Considering that the issue occurs frequently, it is recommended that you could try to uninstall and reinstall New Outlook to check if there're any differences.

What did the message say when you tried to add the account back?

Who is your email provider?

Did you try repairing or resetting new Outlook in Windows Settings > Apps?
