Hello, i am a rookie working with Azure and Visual Studio. I am trying to create an app that will translate from catalan to spanish. I was able to circumvent permission issues and it now produces a translated file. However, it quality is questionable.

Format not maintained consistently

Some words not translated.

Fonts size not consistent.

How can I improve the quality

See enclosed file for the translation result. Apellido Vey 2010_jornadesAntroponimia_p037 (1).pdf

To improve the quality of translations from Catalan to Spanish using Azure, consider the following strategies:

    1. Use Custom Machine Translation Models: Custom models can significantly enhance translation quality by being trained on specific terminology and context relevant to your content. This can help reduce terminology errors and improve overall accuracy.
    2. Regular Updates and Fine-Tuning: Implement regular technology updates and fine-tuning of your translation models. Utilize evaluation metrics such as BLEU and COMET scores to assess and improve the quality of translations.
    3. Human Review: Although Microsoft Translator Pro does not persist customer data for review, you can perform human reviews on your translations. This can help identify and correct errors that the machine translation may have missed.
    4. Monitor and Adjust: Continuously monitor the performance of your translation system and make adjustments based on feedback and identified issues. This can include addressing specific problems like inconsistent formatting or untranslated words.
    5. Testing with Representative Samples: Ensure that you test your translation quality with representative samples to gauge how well the system performs in real-world scenarios.

By implementing these strategies, you can enhance the quality and consistency of your translations.

    Hi Luis Bonet

Yes, Custom trained model will inherit the translation feature from default translator model. We are giving additional context for words for which it is not translating or skipping or performing badly

Attached relevant documentation on custom translator for reference.

Please bench diverse dataset before training full scale.

    Thank you.
