    HI @Angie Lyr

Sorry to hear about the impact of the product change, but please take a look at the feature comparison of Microsoft Teams vs. Skype so that you can understand Microsoft's behavior.

    • Microsoft Teams is a feature-rich communication and collaboration platform designed for enterprises that need powerful conferencing, file sharing, messaging, and integration tools. It is popular for its seamless integration with Microsoft 365, which is an advantage for organizations that already use Microsoft products.
    • Skype (especially Skype for Business) used to be an important choice for enterprise communications, but it has gradually been phased out as Microsoft encourages enterprises to move to Microsoft Teams.

    Main feature comparison

    Messaging and collaboration

    • Microsoft Teams: With threaded messaging and channels, Teams allows segmented communication within a department or project. Team members can chat, share files, and collaborate in real time in a secure environment. Teams also supports instant chat with GIFs, stickers, and emojis to provide an informal, engaging experience. Microsoft 365 applications can integrate document editing and co-authoring to improve collaboration efficiency.
    • Skype: Skype is primarily focused on calling, offering instant messaging but lacking the structured collaboration tools and channels that Teams offers. While Skype supports basic text chat, it is not tightly integrated with productivity apps, making it less suitable for deep collaborative work.

    Voice and video calling

    • Microsoft Teams: Teams offers high-quality voice and video calling, with features like background blur, call recording, and live captions. Businesses can host webinars, virtual events, and large meetings with up to 1,000 participants. Teams also includes auto attendants, call queues, and integration with third-party calling plans, making it a more comprehensive enterprise solution.
    • Skype: Skype allows up to 100 participants on video calls, which is more than enough for small to medium-sized meetings. While call quality is solid, it lacks advanced features that larger organizations may find essential, such as background blur or call analytics.

    Integration with other apps

    • Microsoft Teams: As part of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Teams integrates seamlessly with apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, allowing users to schedule meetings, share documents, and collaborate in real time. Additionally, Teams supports integration with more than 600 third-party apps, providing flexibility for CRM, project management, and marketing tools.
    • Skype: Skype offers basic integration with Outlook for scheduling calls, but lacks deep connections with other business applications. For businesses that rely on a variety of software tools, its limited integration capabilities may be a drawback, making it less versatile than Teams.

    Security and Compliance

    • Microsoft Teams: Security is a top priority for Teams, which offers enterprise-grade security features including data encryption, multi-factor authentication, and compliance with GDPR and other regulations.
    • Skype: Skype offers encryption and basic security measures, but it lacks the advanced compliance features found in Teams. For businesses that handle sensitive data or work in regulated industries, Teams may be a better fit.
