    Hi Preethi,

Firstly, check if there is dust or debris under the space bar key. Blow compressed air around the key or gently lift the keycap carefully and clean under it with a soft brush.

    Secondly,

Open Settings → Ease of Access → Keyboard

Make sure Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, or Toggle Keys are turned off.

    Thirdly,

Plug in an external keyboard if possible-If the spacebar works on the external one, your laptop keyboard likely has a hardware issue.

    Hi,

If possible try use a different keyboard and see if the problem persists.

Sometimes it is a temporary issue and after restart the problem will be solved.

Hi, I’m Henry, and I’m happy to share my insight about this issue.

The problem could be due to either software or hardware issues, as I'm unsure whether this has always been a problem or if it started recently.

Step 1: Perform a full restart—not just Sleep or Hibernate. Shut down completely and then power it back on.

Step 2: Test with an External Keyboard

Connect an external USB or Bluetooth keyboard.

Open Notepad or any text document.

Try using the spacebar on the external keyboard.

    • If the external spacebar works, the issue is likely with your laptop’s physical keyboard (hardware-related).
    • If the external spacebar also doesn’t work, it suggests a software problem affecting all keyboards. Proceed to the next steps.

    Step 3: Check Accessibility Settings

If this issue started recently or has always been present, accessibility settings might be interfering with normal keyboard functions.

Go to Settings > Accessibility (or "Ease of Access").

    Select Keyboard settings.

Ensure Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys are all turned OFF.

Filter Keys in particular can ignore brief or repeated keystrokes.

Step 4: Update or Reinstall Your Keyboard Driver

If your system hasn't been updated in a while, your keyboard driver might be corrupt or outdated.

I hope this helps you troubleshoot the issue.
