Hi, I’m Henry, and I’m happy to share my insight about this issue.
The problem could be due to either software or hardware issues, as I'm unsure whether this has always been a problem or if it started recently.
Step 1: Perform a full restart—not just Sleep or Hibernate. Shut down completely and then power it back on.
Step 2: Test with an External Keyboard
Connect an external USB or Bluetooth keyboard.
Open Notepad or any text document.
Try using the spacebar on the external keyboard.
- If the external spacebar works, the issue is likely with your laptop’s physical keyboard (hardware-related).
- If the external spacebar also doesn’t work, it suggests a software problem affecting all keyboards. Proceed to the next steps.
Step 3: Check Accessibility Settings
If this issue started recently or has always been present, accessibility settings might be interfering with normal keyboard functions.
Go to Settings > Accessibility (or "Ease of Access").
Select Keyboard settings.
Ensure Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys are all turned OFF.
Filter Keys in particular can ignore brief or repeated keystrokes.
Step 4: Update or Reinstall Your Keyboard Driver
If your system hasn't been updated in a while, your keyboard driver might be corrupt or outdated.
I hope this helps you troubleshoot the issue.
