My laptop states - weak charging state, please check power charger. I have tried several chargers and they all give the same message. The battery only lasts 3-4 hours after being fully charged.

Hi, the battery issue remains. I have taken the laptop into a Microsoft store and followed the recommendations - I still have charge issues and poor battery life.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Support.

I understand that you're experiencing issues with your Surface Laptop's battery. The message “weak charging state, please check power charger” typically indicates that your laptop is not receiving sufficient power from the charger.

Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

    1. Ensure that you’re using the charger that came with your laptop. Sometimes using a different charger can lead to slower charging or other issues. Make sure the charging cable is securely connected to both your laptop and the power outlet.
    2. Try a Different Power Outlet: Sometimes the issue may be with the power outlet itself. Plug your charger into a different outlet to see if the problem persists.
    3. Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve charging-related issues. Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
    4. Check for updates available and install them. Also check optional updates.
    5. Remove and Reinstall Battery Driver:
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand the “Batteries” category.
      • Double-tap or double-click your battery driver (usually labeled as “Surface battery”).
      • Select the “Driver” tab and choose “Uninstall.” Confirm and then restart your device.

If you’ve tried these steps and the issue persists, please provide additional information:

    • What build version of Windows are you currently running?
    • Could you share a screenshot of the error message?
    • When did this issue start, and were there any changes made prior to it happening?
    • Did you also try charging your laptop using a USB-C PD charger? see USB-C and Fast Charging for Surface - Microsoft Support.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
