Hello, GaryBanks.
Welcome to Microsoft Community!
I noticed that your Surface Pro 6 is currently having a touchscreen failure issue.
We can troubleshoot this visually with the help of UEFI. UEFI is independent of the Windows system and if there is still a touch screen problem in the UEFI interface, it is a hardware failure.
How to use Surface UEFI - Microsoft Support
You can only adjust UEFI settings when the system starts. To load the UEFI firmware settings menu:
- Turn off your Surface and wait about 10 seconds to make sure it's turned off.
- Press and hold the volume up button on your Surface, then press and release the power button at the same time.
- The Microsoft or Surface logo appears on the screen. Press and hold the volume up button. Release the button when the UEFI screen appears.
If you are able to touch in UEFI, then we will continue to troubleshoot for the system and drivers.
You can try operating the device with the help of an external mouse and manually installing the driver and firmware installer for Surface Pro 6 to troubleshoot unknown driver issues and maintain device performance:
Download Surface Pro 6 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center
Please reboot your device after the download is complete to apply the driver update.
The above steps usually work if the problem stems from the driver.
If the problem persists, we can confirm that it is a hardware failure of the screen.
For this type of issue, Community Support usually recommends that you get in touch with the Surface Technical Support team for hardware service.
And unfortunately, the Surface Pro 6 was discontinued worldwide last year. Microsoft has also discontinued out-of-warranty repair services for this model. As community support, we cannot hide this fact from you.
We respect any thoughts or choices you may have regarding the use of your device.
These are all the possibilities I can share with you at this time.
Best Regards.
