missing msedge_proxy.exe

I have this problem, when I choose to install a site as an app, it will create a shortcut on my desktop screen. But when I click on it, it says "Windows is searching for msedge_proxy.edge. To locate the file yourself, please click browse." I browse and chose a file and it worked.

The thing is, I deleted msedge_proxy.edge permanently because I thought it was an application that I was going to uninstall. I didn't know it's for the shortcut.

Is there a way to bring back the msedge_proxy.edge so I don't have to browse a file when opening a site shortcut? So that the app will just open like usual. I don't really understand these things so I hope you can help with solutions. I'm quite anxious about these things.

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.

You can repair the Edge from the Apps settings.

1-Click on Start then click on Settings

2-Click on Apps then search for the Edge and click on that

3-Click on Modify the click to repair

Hello, Robinson. Thank you for your reply.

I tried to modify and repair the Edge on Settings. Then, a new msedge_proxy.exe added to my file folder. It didn't work at first, but after I clicked on run as administrator, it worked!

A huge thank you for your help! Finally, I can open it without browsing a file first. Once again, thank you so much. I hope you have a nice day! :)

Hi, thank you so much for replying.

I clicked the "download tool now" and accept the terms. Then it says "What do you want to do?" Option 1 is "upgrade this pc now" and option 2 is "create installation media" which one should I choose? Is this the right step?

Also, do I need to backup files for this?
