I accidentally pressed on the wrong website when I was browsing, it lead to a page where it’s says the said, access to this system has been blocked for security reasons and don’t close the pc or restart. There was also the customer service number so I gave them a call but the man on the phone asked to download something and it will be charged but as soon as I start questioning more he hang up. But I have deleted the file that I downloaded and as well form the bin and disconnect the wifi from the PC, other than that I haven’t done anything else. What should I do ?

If you didn't install the remote access software and let the scammer connect to your PC, there's no need to scan your computer or change passwords.

If it ever happens again, to kill the stuck browser process, do whichever of the following works:

    • Press F11 to exit the browser from full screen mode, then close the tab
    • Press Alt + F4 (until the browser process is terminated) or Ctrl + W (to close the tab)
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Escape to open Task Manager, locate the browser processes and right click End Task
    • Hold the power button down until your computer turns off (this will always work)

After that, clear your browser's cache

For Edge, enter edge://settings/clearBrowserData into the URL bar. Select the first three options then press Clear now

    Hi,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

If it was a pop-up message came up while using a browser, it was a scam and it is never recommended to click or call any phone number that appears on it. However, try the steps below to keep your computer safe and secure:

Scan your computer with Windows Defender and the free version of Malwarebytes:

Change all accounts' passwords and enable 2-step verification on them:
