I have an already created excel template. I would like to change or update the default suggested file name when you click save as when you open the template from a new excel sheet. This is very similar to updating the Title field in the Properties section of Info in a Word document. Help please.

Hi, you can try to provide more information.
I know that in Word you can go to File -> Options and under the Properties section file in the Title.
And when you open the template again and hit Save As, the Title is in the File Name field.
I would like to be able to do the same thing in Excel but can't find the spot to do this.
I tested again and I can reproduce this behavior in Excel and Word. It seems that this behavior is available for Word but not Excel. I didn't find the solution, this might be an known issue, you can try to give a feedback about this problem. Hi, If you use CTRL+S to save rather then File - Save as then the name is given as Template Name1. So all you need to do is Backspace to delete the suffix '1'.

As far as I know, you cannot sync template file name when saving it.
You can go to the template folder and change the file name manually, you can find the template folder location from File- Option- Save:
