Constant disk usage when playing games

When I play games like Valorant or CSGO, my HDD disk usage is constantly spiking, causing drastic FPS drops. It appears that the game itself (Valorant) and System are the ones causing the disk usage. My disk usage is never at 0% and what's more, is that my Valorant is installed on my SSD, so I don't know why it is using HDD disk usage. This problem started when I updated my drivers recently and formatting my laptop did not solve the problem. I have updated my drivers and windows & other methods but nothing seems to work. Please help.

    Hi Luiz, thank you for your reply. Your methods have helped my problem greatly and have solved my constant disk usage. However, there is still a problem where apps (mainly system and antimalware service executable) suddenly spike in disk usage, causing fps drops from time to time. Is this normal or can this be fixed?

    Thank you. Best regards.

    Hello Joshhosh679, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand you are having high disk usage in Windows 10;

    What exactly is your Windows version and build?

    Check Windows Update for pending updates;

    Run disk check on C: and D:;

    Access the file explorer;

    Right-click Local Disk C: and access properties;

    Click on Tools;

    Click Check;

    Do this on local disk D: too;

    Wait for the verification to finish;

    Do a disk cleanup;

    Press Windows key + R and type: cleanmgr and press Enter;

    Click on clean system files and wait for the files to load;

    Select all files and click OK to delete them;

    Do a clean boot;

    Clean boot serves to determine whether a background program is interfering with the system or optimizing system loading.

    1. Press the Windows + R keys, type msconfig and click OK;
    2. In the System Configuration window, click on the services tab;
    3. At the bottom of the screen, check the Hide all Microsoft services box and click Disable all;
    4. Now click on the Startup Programs tab and on Open Task Manager;
    5. When loading the task manager, click on the start tab and disable all non-Microsoft programs (right-click on the program and choose disable), close the task manager and click OK on system configuration and restart computer if requested.

    NOTE: This procedure disables all third party services and programs. You can later, if the problem is solved in this way, selectively enable the programs and services that will start with Windows, instead of keeping all disabled. If the problem returns after activating the startup of a specific service or program, the problem is exactly in the startup of this software and it is recommended to remove it.

    Restart PC and check disk usage;

    Hope I have helped, see you soon!
