Cannot insert files into MS Teams chat when users from another organization are in the call

Hi everyone,

I am using MS Teams Version 1.4.00.16567 on a mid-2017 MacBook Pro 13" running macOS Big Sur 11.5.1.

I have been using my own copy of Office 365 (I'm freelance) for about 3 years. As a coach/facilitator, I make extensive use of the in-call conversation/chat feature. However, I have noticed the strangest behavior lately:

When I start a call, I get all the usual icons below the chat text prompt:

Then, when another user from another organization joins, the exclamation mark and the paper clip disappear!

Not while they're in the lobby:

But once I've let them in:

Two more things are interesting:

  1. Others on the call still have the two icons, they only disappear for me.
  2. It only happens when users from another organization join. When someone just joins as a guest without registering, I keep seeing the icons.

I would really like to fix this, because I need the full capability of posting / dragging / dropping files etc. during my workshops. Frankly, it's a little embarrassing when your groups have more rights than you as the facilitator...

Any takers? Highly appreciated!

Thanks

Hans

What happens when you visit the MS Team web app? Does the same problem persist?

    Thanks for your ideas, @Dnl.tech,

I did as you suggested. The problem only persists inside the desktop app, not the web app.

I went on to delete the cache. I was able to remove the Teams Folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft. However, I wasn't Microsoft Teams Identities Cache inside Keychain. Although I hit "Delete" multiple times, it stayed.

So I ran these terminal commands:

    rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.teams

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/Application\ Cache/Cache

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/blob_storage

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/Cache

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/databases

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/GPUCache

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/IndexedDB

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/Local\ Storage

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/tmp

And Microsoft Teams Identities Cache was gone.

But the problem with the app persists. Any other ideas, please?

    Thanks
    Hans

    Hi

My name is Daniel. I am an Independent Advisor.

I'm wondering whether you are experiencing the same issue when using MS Teams online.

Please follow these steps below to isolate the issue:

    1. Please go to your computer then open your chrome or edge browser as the only recommended browsers to access MS Teams online.
    2. Please go to MS Teams online https://teams.microsoft.com
    3. Then try to log in.
    4. Go check the problematic features.

Are you experiencing the same issue when you are using MS Teams online from your computer?

Having said that, If you are indeed not experiencing the same issue on the MS Team desktop app then I suspect it could be just an intermittent issue on the MS Team desktop app in that case please reset the MS Team app and see how it goes.

Please visit the following article and refer to the section, under the "macOS: Clear Teams Cache" section. https://www.uvm.edu/it/kb/article/clearing-team...
