Cannot install a software on azure windows virtual desktop

Hello,

I have deployed a standalone cloud-only Azure windows virtual desktop and I can connect to it using remote desktop client app.

I have copied the installation file (which is an exe file) of our app to the virtual machine in Azure windows virtual desktop, but I cannot install it. I get the following error message during installation:

The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.

I have got 'Global administrator', 'Owner' and 'Contributor' roles in Azure. I tried going going to Local Group Policy relevant changes, but I get 'Access denied' message when opening a console.

I also tried running the installation exe file as an administrator to which, it expects to run as an elevated user. I tried entering my account credentials (as I have got 'Owner' and 'Global administrator' roles); but it was not accepting it.

Could someone please help me in this regard and advise, if I have missed something at the time of creating and deploying resources for Azure WVD (Windows Virtual Desktop)?

Kind regards,
Misbah

    Hello,

I have managed to figure out myself. Looks like, I had to run the installation as a local administrator user that, I have specified at the time of creating virtual machine. The username for the local administrator should be passed with the following format:

    <Virtual_Machine_Name>\<User_ID>

Don't need to add '@<domain_name>' as a suffix for User_ID. I specified User_ID with suffix as a local administrator to virtual machine and that was what, I was using as a username on the elevated user credentials login dialog.

    Kind regards,
    Misbah
