Problems with reading from a UART

I cannot get the UART_HighLevelApp sample to work. It transmits fine (logic analyzer shows valid traffic on both tx and rx) but the event handler is never invoked.

Any ideas?

@JakeSays please confirm that you are following the sample from here: https://github.com/Azure/azure-sphere-samples/tree/master/Samples/UART/UART_HighLevelApp and followed the UART requirements in doc here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-sphere/app-development/uart

1) What is the local device operating system version ?
2) What is the version of the current installed Azure Sphere SDK?

I have followed both of those items.

1) Azure Sphere OS version 20.06.
2) 20.04

There are two event handlers in main.c . Which one is never invoked?

static void ButtonTimerEventHandler(EventLoopTimer *timer); static void UartEventHandler(EventLoop *el, int fd, EventLoop_IoEvents events, void *context);

Hello @JakeSays , We have validated the document on Azure Sphere Sample Sample: UART (high-level app) and was able to debug the HL app successfully from VS code.

We were able to accomplish all the below mentioned steps:

Opens a UART serial port with a baud rate of 115200.

Sends characters from the device over the UART when button A is pressed.

Displays the data received from the UART in the Visual Studio Output Window.

Causes an LED to blink when data is received from the UART. Opens a UART serial port with a baud rate of 115200.

Troubleshooting Steps:

We had few issues with Cmake initially on Windows 10 machine, we re-installed the latest version and we used the Cmake:Configure to select the VS2017 Kit.

I'm now trying an RT app and cannot get it to receive as well. It sends fine though.

I will re-try the HL sample from with the 20.07 sdk.

Ugh. Turns out my sphere is bad! I tried it on a spare and uart works fine in both directions.
