PDF files do not support embedded files. Consider the PDF as an electronic version of a paper print.

You may be able to use a hyperlink, but only if the recipient of the PDF has access to the linked location.

    Hi ΓΚΙΝΗΣ Γ. ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ,

Thanks for posting in the community.

For your concern, after researching and testing on our side, it is unavailable to keep the embedded files active in a Word-convert-PDF document. When opening the final PDF file with Word, it could help you to convert the PDF file to an editable document while the embedded file becomes an image not a file.

In the meanwhile, to display the Excel documents in PDF, you could insert Excel Spreadsheet in the Word document via Insert> Excel Spreadsheet.

Although Word cannot meet your requirement because Word and Adobe are the different products designed by different companies, after searching, there is a workaround for it. This thread where the customers discussed Embedding PDF files inside a PDF is available may meet your requirement.
