Hi Kimberly,

Assuming you have an Office 365 subscription and that you have enabled connected experiences in Excel > Preferences > Privacy, your version of Excel should have the much newer "Ideas" feature.

This article describes the old quick analysis tools:

Excel Quick Analysis | How to Use Quick Analysis Tools in ...

Your version of Excel doesn't have this old feature.

It's always touchy when a student has to explain to the professor that they are teach out of date concepts, but really, I think they should be teaching the "Ideas" feature instead of the old Quick Analysis feature, which you don't even have.

All the features of the quick analysis tool are in Excel for Mac. They're just in different places on the interface.

Formatting is available by right-click > Format.

Conditional Formatting is on the Home tab of the Ribbon near the middle of the Ribbon

To make a chart, use Insert tab and choose a chart type

Totals is a feature of Excel's Table feature. That's on the Ribbon when your selection is within an Excel Table

To add sparklines, click the Sparklines button on the Insert tab of the Ribbon

To use Excel's really great Ideas feature, just click anywhere in a data table and click the Ideas button on the Ribbon. It's much better than the old Quick Analysis feature. It leaves the Quick Analysis feature in the dust.

In the thread below, someone suggested a third party app. You can try if this would work for you.

Thank you Ian! Do you know of another way to access the info found in the QA Tool?                             (I am taking a college course in Excel and can't move forward, I did reach out the instructor and was sent here.) And yes, I will submit feedback as you recommended.

    Thanks!

Hi KimberlySloan, hope you're doing well. I’m Ian, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you.

I'm sorry to hear about this issue.

Unfortunately the Quick Analysis is a feature limited to Excel in Windows. Sorry about the inconvenience.

I would suggest to submit feedback to the development team in the link below so that they can add this in the future releases.
