I work in word and once I've completed my work, I download to my laptop. When I upload the downloaded file, the document will be distored. ie. typing and spacing may be off, header may be missing page numbers etc. When I download to my laptop as a pdf, there is no issue. But, my downloads need to be docx, which it does, but not without the distort.

If you mean that the document looks different in OneDrive, note that Word Online does not display headers and footers by default. In addition, Word Online does not support all the formatting that is available in the locally installed (desktop) version.

You need to clarify as if you created a new Word doc it would be saved to OneDrive, once you have used 'SaveAs' to name that doc

There is no other upload/download process.

In any doc you can print to pdf
