I believe Benjamin is using the morph transition between slides. You are supposed to get 4 vertical text boxes with numbers 0-9 and move them up/down in a duplicated slide. Then apply the morph transition between the slides and the digits are supposed to scroll to display the new number. The thing that is the issue here is that the text boxes change their horizontal positions which does not look good. The same happens to me, but I figured out that if you change some property of each text box, they don't switch positions. For example each one of my boxes has a slightly diffrent colour. I suppose you could just add some character to the hidden part of each text box.

    Hi Benjamin,

    Thanks for posting back.

Based on your reply, you created a number countdown effect in PowerPoint. There are many ways to achieve this effect.  I assume you created three text boxes and applied the Down motion path animation to them.

If not, please point it out and let us know. I recommend you share a test file with us.

If so, I suggest you show the Selection Pane (press Alt + F10 or click Home> Select> Selection Pane) and the Animation Pane (press Alt + A + C or click Animations> Animation Pane). Select the text box containing the second number line, and check its animation In the Animation Pane. Make sure that it is the Down motion path animation.

If its animation is the Down motion path animation, please share a test file with us.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
