ARM64 emulation support for programs

Hello,

Our business is currently using a Surface 11, and we are encountering an issue with driver compatibility. We have some essential peripherals that require x86 drivers, but they are not functioning on the ARM64 architecture of this device.

We have already attempted to use the compatibility settings in Windows, but unfortunately, this has not resolved the problem.

Is there any known method or workaround to force these x86 drivers to install and work on an ARM64 system? These drivers are critical for our business operations, so any potential solutions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

    Hi Michael DeLucia,

We understand the importance of ensuring your essential peripherals function correctly on your Surface 11 device, which runs on the ARM64 architecture.

While Windows 11 on ARM supports emulation for most x86 and x64 applications, it does not support x86 or x64 driver installation. Drivers must be compiled specifically for ARM64 to operate correctly on ARM-based systems. Unfortunately, there is no supported method to force x86 drivers to install or function on ARM64 devices.

We recommend checking with the peripheral manufacturers to see if ARM64-compatible drivers are available or in development. Alternatively, if these peripherals are critical to your operations and no ARM64 support is planned, you may consider using a device with an x64-based processor to ensure full compatibility.

For more details on software and peripheral support for ARM-based Surface devices, you can refer to Microsoft’s official guidance.

If my answer is useful for you, please give it a vote.

    Best regards,

    Quinnie Quoc.
