Control Panel/Devices and Printer opens Document folder

“When opening Devices and Printers from Control Panel in Windows 11 (tested on 22H2 and 25H2), it not only opens the expected window but also opens the Documents folder. This occurs on multiple fresh installs and different hardware. Using control printers works correctly, so the bug seems tied to the Control Panel shortcut/CLSID mapping.”

Hi,

This bug has been around for years, and I think the reason it hasn’t been fixed yet is because it’s connected to the gradual deprecation of the Control Panel. I believe this can only be fixed when Microsoft removes the legacy Control Panel hooks. I still recommend reporting this bug on the Feedback Hub app.

Aside from using control printers, you can use this and create a shortcut of the legacy Devices and Printers window on your desktop as a workaround.
