2025-10-12T12:48:32.92+00:00 Hello Dominique Van Oerle,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
What you're facing seems to be an issue with Electron-based applications when a required JavaScript file or module is missing or corrupted. The PDF editor relies on JavaScript modules to run. If one of those modules is missing the app can't start properly and throws this error.
1 - Repair installation (if option is available)
- Open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps
- Find your PDF Editor > click three-dot > Modify
- Scroll down and click Terminate > Repair
- If the issue persists, click Reset (this will clear app data)
2 - Uninstall the app completely and reinstall it:
- Follow the same steps as above, but click Uninstall instead of three-dot
- After uninstalling, open File Explorer > enable Hidden Items in View tab > manually delete leftover files (if any) in the following paths:
-
C:\users\[YourUsername]\pdfeditor\ -
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\pdfeditor\
-
- Find the latest version of the app from the official website or trusted source.
- Download a fresh installer > run as Administrator during the reinstallation.
3 - Additional checks:
- Antivirus logs: Some antivirus programs may quarantine your files. Check the program history to see if it was flagged and restore it.
- If the app depends on Node.js: Download and install the LTS version
