    Hi Marina,

There are a couple of points.

    Via https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-on-automatic-language-detection-194d309c-3e10-4bd5-a694-ba9bbdf4a28e#id0ehbf=newer_versions

    #1:

Review the languages shown above the double line in the Mark selected text as list. Office can detect only those languages listed above the double line. If the languages that you use are not shown above the double line, you must enable the editing language (turn on the language-specific options) so that Office can automatically detect them.

    Notes:

Automatic language detection requires a sentence of text to accurately identify the correct language. Depending on the length of your sentences, you might need to type several sentences before Office has enough contextual information to detect the language and apply the correct dictionary.

Words that are spelled the same way in several languages, such as "centre" in English (United Kingdom) and French (France), might cause incorrect language identification. To solve this problem, type more words in the language that you want, or clear the Detect language automatically check box.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

Word's auto-detection of language has certain limitations. If you try and depend on it, you may get undesired results; it seems you have already noticed that fact.

If you are planning to set up a document which contains more than one language, you can create separate paragraph styles with different language formatting applied to them. If only certain words use a different language, instead create a character style that you apply to those words.

If Microsoft Word is not automatically detecting the language during proofing, it may be due to the CheckLanguage property not being set up correctly. The CheckLanguage property determines if Word can automatically detect the language as you type. If you haven't configured Word for multilingual editing, this property will always return False.

To enable automatic language detection, ensure that you have set up Word for multilingual editing and that the appropriate proofing tools for the languages you want to use are installed. You can also customize language settings through the Office Language Preferences to add and set default editing languages.

If you need to deploy additional proofing tools, consider using the Office 2016 Language Pack or the Proofing Tools 2016 ISO, which provides resources for installing proofing tools for various languages.
