I am a student and I have started learning through Microsoft Learn and Azure fundamentals.

I want to know the complete process to get selected as a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador.

Could you please explain:

  1. Eligibility criteria for students
  2. Whether completing Microsoft Learn modules is sufficient
  3. How community involvement is evaluated
  4. The selection timeline and next steps after application

I am very interested in contributing to the Microsoft Learn community and would like proper guidance.

Hi, Gungun! Thanks for your kind interest in contributing to Microsoft Learn and the Microsoft Student Ambassadors program. :)

As of today, Student Ambassadors program has been renamed to Microsoft Student Ambassadors, and the approval process has been transitioned to registration.

Although it's recommended to reach out to sa-help@microsoft.com to get support from the program team, as a current Student Ambassador, I can share some of my insights for your questions. Hope these can help! :)

  • Q: Eligibility criteria for students All registering students must:
    • Be at least 18 years old at the time of registration
    • Be enrolled full-time in an accredited academic institution (e.g., College, University).
    • Be an Azure for Students account holder
    • Not be a previous registrant or Ambassador removed from Program by Microsoft
    • Not be a Microsoft Employee or current contractor
  • Q: Whether completing Microsoft Learn modules is sufficient You will receive a specified Skill Training Learning Path containing modules you need to complete after registering.
  • Q: How community involvement evaluated AFAIK, participation in Microsoft Q&A isn't directly counted to your path to be invited to be an Ambassador, but building your community reputation isn't conflicting to your pathway to become an Ambassador. Users with high reputation, frequent participation, and valuable contribution will be taken care of by the community team and may be invited to some contributor programs, like Product Champions or to become a Volunteer Moderator.
  • Q: The selection timeline and next steps after application The invite and report email will be sent periodically to your registered site email at mvp.microsoft.com, and after join the "Microsoft Student Developer Community" Discord server, you will find what's next at #ambassadors-faq and get support from #registration-help.

By the way - when it comes to contributing to the Microsoft Learn community (and/or the Microsoft Q&A community), a "Student Ambassador" role isn't mandatory.

If you are interested in product docs - you can go to @MicrosoftDocs, find that product (if there is one), help the team solving issues, and improve documents. Check this page and the training module "Become a Microsoft Learn contributor" to get some insight to it.
