    Hello @Hight Jesse,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

Before we move forward, could you please help me confirm whether your account is provided and managed by your school?

If this is a school‑issued account, the quickest and most accurate way to resolve your authentication issue is to contact your school’s IT administrator directly. They are the only ones who can reset or revoke your multi‑factor authentication settings on your account. Microsoft cannot directly reset MFA for accounts that are managed by an organization, and this action must be performed by the school’s IT team.

Please reach out to your IT admin and request that they revoke and require re-registration of your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings. They can do this by following these steps:

    • Signing in to the Microsoft Entra Admin Center
    • Navigating to Users > Your Account > Authentication methods
    • Selecting Require re-register MFAUser's image

Once this is completed, you will be prompted to set up MFA again during your next login, allowing you to configure Microsoft Authenticator on your new device.

You can share this official Microsoft article with them for guidance: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID |…

If you are unsure who your IT administrator is, you can refer to this official Microsoft guide for assistance: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

If your account is not provided by the school, please let me know, I’ll be happy to look into the correct path and guide you further.

Thanks for your understanding, and I’m here if you need anything else.

    Kind regards,

It sounds like you are caught in a multi-factor authentication (MFA) loop, where you need to access the Microsoft Authenticator app to get a code, but the app itself requires a code to log in. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Use Recovery Options: If you have set up recovery options (like a backup email or phone number), try using those to regain access to your account.
    2. Contact Support: Since you are using an educational email, consider reaching out to your institution's IT support. They may be able to reset your MFA settings or provide alternative methods to authenticate your account.
    3. Access via Web: If possible, try accessing your email through a web browser instead of the app. Sometimes, the web interface might offer alternative authentication methods.
    4. Reset MFA: If you are the administrator or have access to an admin account, you might be able to reset the MFA settings through the admin portal. If not, contacting support is essential.
    5. Temporary Account: If you cannot reach support, consider creating a temporary account to submit a support ticket requesting assistance with your main account.

These steps should help you regain access to your email. If the issue persists, it’s crucial to get in touch with Microsoft support for further assistance.
