Windows 11 Incompatible with i7 Processor
I have a gaming laptop with i7-7700HQ processor, 4 cores, 8GB ram etc. However, my PC isn't compatible (a lot i7 cores are compatible, for some reason, this one is not)
Should I install windows 11 using the other methods that were discussed online? It just seems like downloading an OS when it is not officially supported by your processor would be a bad idea. I remember reading somewhere that windows might not even roll out updates for users who have installed windows 11 in any other way.
Also, is windows working on releasing a build that would work on this processor?
Please help. I desperately want to download Windows 11, but don't want to make any rash decisions.

2021-11-18T15:14:10.043+00:00 I'm in the same boat with my 4 year old Acer Predator G3-571, but I've still installed Windows 11 as well as the Insider Preview Beta and Dev editions. This laptop has run its course. I suppose it's due to its age, my abuse and the ever bloating of windows. Every time Windows 10 came out with their big feature update it felt more and more less like a gaming laptop and more like a potato. Now that time has gone on and it's about Windows 11, Windows 10 does seem to run smoother for me. So, get this. My mother bought a laptop several years ago with WIndows 10. It ran like crap right out of the box. Recently she had issues with it. The thing was so slow if I had left it going it'd probably still be hanging. I had to go into Safe Mode to comfortably copy all her files to an external HDD and guess what... Her laptop met all the requirements. I was blown away when I installed Windows 11, so much so that even as a laptop far less superior than mine and without an SSD, it ran smoother than my laptop. So.. it came with Windows 10 and ran like complete crap, then Windows 11 comes and runs like a bad dream, blowing my dreams out of the water. Yeah. I love Windows, but they're always making the most obviously dumb and ridiculous decisions. It's like they're running things out of the stone age. They've found fire but they're burning themselves with it and the hot air is blown up our butts.

2021-11-18T20:06:21.57+00:00 I suppose the only good thing about being one of the exceptions is that so far we have been spared the inevitable emergency updates which always seem to accompany new Microsoft versions. Frankly any other business which rolled out a product with the kind of faults we get with Microsoft OS would find themselves being pursued by regulators. Beta testing clearly is not sufficiently rigorous, and collaboration with manufacturers, other software providers and perhaps even security experts does not go far enough. The attempts to shut out alternative browers is not a good sign, I'd rather pay up front for new software than feel I'm a prisoner of the OS.
I've always valued the relative freedom of Microsoft OS compared to the cultish approach of Apple, or the "we own you" one of Google, but the attractions of Linux grow with each iteration. I just hope I'm not too old to learn.

2021-11-19T04:31:18.87+00:00 that Windows 11 updates may be in jeopardy if you take the ISO install method with a PC that doesn’t meet the company’s system requirements.

2021-11-19T07:11:32.957+00:00 I'm grateful that I have a vmware license so I'm going to upgrade my version of Windows 10 that is on a VM and see how it goes. Personally, I won't update my physical machine without the go-ahead from Microsoft since I use it for work and can't afford to suddenly have it in an unusable state. I will try it out on the VM and hopefully at some point in time Microsoft will include it in in the compatible processor list.
I even tried to see how realistic it will be to look at upgrading only the processor, but from what I could see the i7 7700HQ uses a bga1440 slot on the motherboard and I don't seem to be able to find a more current processor which will fit in that slot. So it literally will be trying Windows 11 on the VM until we hear back from Microsoft and if they don't come to the table, then I'll stick to Windows 10.
