My microphone is disabled. I have installed the latest drivers but this has not fixed the issue.

If the latest drivers are already installed, check these Windows settings next:

    1. Verify microphone access is enabled.
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone
      • Turn on Microphone access
      • Turn on Let apps access your microphone
      • Turn on Let desktop apps access your microphone
    2. Make sure the correct input device is selected.
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound
      • Under Input, select the microphone that should be used
      • Test it using the built-in microphone test
    3. Check whether the microphone is muted or physically disconnected.
      • If using a headset, make sure its Mute button is off
      • If it is Bluetooth, confirm it is paired and connected
    4. If the device is still not detected, reinstall the audio device from Device Manager.
      • Right-click Start > Device Manager
      • Expand Sound, video and game controllers
      • Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device
      • If prompted, select the option to remove the driver for this device
      • Restart the PC
      • If Windows does not reinstall it automatically, open Device Manager, right-click Sound, video and game controllers, and select Scan for hardware changes
      • Then right-click the audio driver and select Update driver
    5. Run the built-in troubleshooter.
      • Windows 10: Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Recording Audio
    6. If this is a Surface device, also check Settings > Sound and confirm:
      • The intended input device is selected
      • Allow apps and Windows to use this device for audio is allowed
      • Input volume is turned up
      • Audio enhancements are turned off
      • Start test works
    7. If reinstalling did not help, get the latest audio driver directly from the PC manufacturer’s support site, then restart the PC.
