Use the Properties window to view the properties of a selected element in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). You can also view the properties of files, projects, and solutions. To open the window, select Properties Window on the View menu, or press F4.
The Properties window displays different types of editing fields for each property. Properties that are gray are read-only.
Options
| Element | Description |

| Object name | Lists the selected object or objects. The window shows only the objects in the active editor or designer. |
| Sort Properties By Category | Lists the properties and the property values of the selected object by category. Categories are in alphabetical order. To expand or collapse a category, select the plus (+) or minus (-) to the left of the category name. |
| Sort Properties Alphabetically | Lists the design-time properties and events of the selected objects in alphabetical order. |
| Description pane | Shows the property type and a short description of the selected property. This pane is at the bottom of the Properties window. To hide or show the pane, select Description on the shortcut menu. |
