Microsoft publisher preferences

In addition to Microsoft Advertising's policies, advertisers must adhere to these Microsoft publisher and property preferences:

  • Microsoft Casual Games prohibits:

    • Ads for products and services that directly compete with the products and services offered by Microsoft Casual Games.

    • Ads for end-of-life services.

    • Ads for psychics, tarot, and mediums.

    • Healthcare ads related to:

      • abortion
      • drug and alcohol additional recovery
      • family planning
      • sexual health
      • fungus, blisters, or burns
      • genital, bowel, or urinary functions
    • Unverified, unsubstantiated, or unproven medical claims.

    • Ads for pocket knives, except when included as part of a multi-tool or utility knife.

  • MSN and Microsoft Edge prohibit:

    • Ads for antivirus products and services.

    • Ads that direct the user to a destination consisting primarily of advertising or sponsored links.

    • Healthcare ads related to:

      • abortion
      • sexual health
      • fungus, blisters, or burns
      • genital, bowel, or urinary functions
    • Unverified, unsubstantiated, or unproven medical claims.

    • Ads for pocketknives, except when included as part of a multi-tool or utility knife.

    • Microsoft Edge does not allow advertisements for competing browser, search, or AI products.

  • Outlook prohibits:

    • Ads for email and digital calendar apps and services. This includes products that bundle email and digital calendar apps as part of the overall product.

    • Healthcare ads related to:

      • abortion
      • sexual health
      • fungus, blisters, or burns
      • genital, bowel, or urinary functions
    • Unverified, unsubstantiated, or unproven medical claims

    • Ads for pocket knives, except when included as part of a multi-tool or utility knife.

  • Xbox Console Dash ads prohibit:

    • Ads promoting e-commerce apps, social apps, or any other apps unless they are available on Xbox in the app store.
    • Ads promoting over-the-top (OTT) video or music services, shopping sites/mobile apps, or social sites/mobile apps, unless they're available on Xbox in the app store.
    • Ads promoting the digital retail purchase of items available in the Xbox Store, including rentals (physical or digital). This is limited to advertising only; it does not limit what content may be available in an app found in the Xbox Store (for example, Amazon).
    • Alcohol
    • Dating
    • Gambling
    • Home and lawn care (e.g., laundry detergent, gardening equipment, and cleaning supplies)
    • Non-Microsoft gaming consoles, platforms, or set-top boxes with TV, video, or gaming streaming services
    • Non-Microsoft Windows-based tablets or PCs
    • Paper products (e.g., bathroom tissue and paper towels)
    • Pet food and pet care
    • Pharmaceutical and healthcare
    • Politics
    • Public service announcements
    • Sensitive personal hygiene products
    • Swimsuits and undergarments
  • SwiftKey prohibits:

    • Ads promoting other keyboard apps.
    • Alcohol
    • Cryptocurrency
    • Dating and companionship
    • Financial services ads for banks, lending, investment businesses, and brokerages. Ads for insurance, tax services, and credit cards are permitted.
    • Gambling
    • Government services and products
    • Healthcare ads related to conditions, medication (prescription and OTC), online pharmacies, sexual health, infant feeding, personal care, family planning, and weight loss. Ads for vitamins and supplements are permitted.
    • Legal services
    • Psychics, tarot readings and mediums
    • Public service announcements
    • Religious content
    • Solicitation of funds and fundraising
    • Surveillance equipment
    • Ticket reselling
