Paying by bank transfer

Microsoft Advertising accepts bank transfer payments on a limited basis. Generally, you can fund your prepay account with a bank transfer. If you have a monthly invoice account, you must pay your charges via bank transfer.

Paying your monthly invoice

Your invoice contains remittance instructions, the due date (net terms), and the specific customer service contact if you have questions.

Important

To speed up payment processing, you must include your invoice number and account number with your payment. Without this information, payment processing time can greatly increase beyond our typical 5 days.

Why your payment may not be applied to your balance

When you send an international wire transfer to add funds to your Microsoft prepay balance, the remittance information must clearly identify your account. If the payment reference is incomplete or altered by intermediary banks, your payment may not be applied automatically.

How to ensure your wire payment is applied correctly

  • Enter your Microsoft Advertising account number or billing document number as the first line of the wire transfer remark. This is the primary identifier used to match your payment.
  • Keep the remark field short. Avoid long descriptions, full sentences, or extra details—many intermediary banks shorten or modify longer text.
  • Don't rely on secondary lines or additional comment fields. Only the first part of the remittance information is guaranteed to pass through all intermediary banks.
  • Use a clear, simple reference format. Include just the required account identifier rather than multiple account numbers or internal notes.
  • Save a copy of your SWIFT message (such as an MT103). It may be required if your payment needs investigation.
  • If your payment doesn't show in your balance within the expected timeframe, contact Support and include your SWIFT confirmation to help locate and apply the funds.

Note

International wire transfers may pass through several intermediary banks. Along the way, remittance information can be shortened or altered. Using a clear, concise payment reference ensures your payment is matched and applied as quickly as possible.
