Users with appropriate permissions who can't delete public folders from Outlook can try the following:
The public folder being deleted is mail enabled. For more information, see Error when deleting a public folder from Outlook clients.
The primary hierarchy public folder mailbox for the affected user is the DefaultPublicFolderMailbox/EffectivePublicFolderMailbox. If yes, use one of these workarounds:
- Use this EXO PowerShell command to assign a secondary hierarchy public folder mailbox as DefaultPublicFolderMailbox for the user who needs to delete the public folder:
Set-Mailbox <username> -DefaultPublicFolderMailbox <name_of_secondary_hierarchy_PF_mailbox>Note: The change in Default/EffectivePublicFolderMailbox takes up to an hour to reflect at the client.
The tenant administrator can delete the desired public folder from EXO PowerShell.
